Free Push Email from mail2web.com

November 20th, 2007 | Category: active sync, mail for exchange, mail2web.com, push email, roadsync

If you need to check email on the go then there is no better alternative to push email. It saves you data charges by only downloading emails only when you have a new email as opposed to checking for new emails periodically in the traditional email client.

And if you happen to have the latest N-series, E-series phones as well as phones with MS Windows mobile then you can use the free push email service from mail2web.com. To use it sign up for the free mail2web live email account.

You can use the activeSync settings for your mail for exchange application. To get the exchange server settings, login to your mail2web live account and then choose my email settings -> View activeSync settings. Configure your mobile email client and you are ready to go.

Rumour: Google to buy Skype?

November 19th, 2007 | Category: Google, Mobile phones, android, cell phones, ebay, open handset alliance, skype

Rumours are doing rounds saying Google might be buying Skype from eBay.

London’s webbist community is rife with rumour that Google is negotiating to buy Skype from eBay. Although this is nothing more than a rumour it fits nicely into Google’s plan of shaking (read scaring the hell out of) the mobile industry. This is particularly significant due to Google’s recent announcement about their own open mobile OS named Android.

What are your thought on this?

Pizero, the genius theme designer for symbian 3rd edition phones, has outdone himself. The new theme simply titled ”Gold“ is a pure pleasure to eye. The theme is created using svg and it is supposed to fit all sizes. If you download the theme, which unfortunately is unavailable right now, you will find a “Wallpaper Pack” containing 7 customized wallpapers. As already mentioned this theme is unavailable for download because there were some bugs reported by some users. Pizero is fixing the bugs and should be available for download in few days time.

Apache still the most popular web server

November 15th, 2007 | Category: Technology, apache, web server

According to netcraft Apache is still the most popular web server. According to their october survey, there was an increase of 7.6 million sites since last September, with MySpace, Microsoft’s Live.com and Google’s Blogger each gaining more than 1 million sites. This is a 5% increase from last months data. MySpace and Microsoft’s Live is hosted on Microsoft-IIS which now hosts over 50 million sites.

Apache loses 2.8% share this month due to strong growth of the major blogging system and partly due to the loss of 2.5 million domains at troube-free.net. Apache still has around 10% lead over IIS which is the smallest gap between the two since IIS was launched in 1996.

You can find more detail at netcraft september survey.

Android “Early look” SDK available for download

November 13th, 2007 | Category: Google, Technology, android

Google has just unveiled “early look” SDK for android mobile os. If you want to take a closer look you can download it from Open Handset Alliance. In a glance, it looks quite promising. Although, it may not look as cool as the Mac os x on iPhone / iPod touch,  the whole point of this google OS is its openness. This means anybody can write application for this application without any restriction . It is highly customized allowing you to control each and every aspect of your phone. This is a very big plus as compared to other platforms. Google has also announced $10 million for the best application. So let’s start coding!

Seeqpod on iPod touch/iPhone

November 11th, 2007 | Category: Apple, Technology, iphone, ipod touch, mp3, music, seeqpod

If you are a big fan of streaming songs over the internet then seeqpod.com is for you. It provides a great interface to all the songs freely available on the internet. It is google for songs. You can search for songs, artist etc and create playlists and save them. Of course you should create an account to enjoy these privileges. Fortunately creating an account doesn’t cost you a dime. What is more interesting is if you have ipod touch or iphone then you can use the built in safari browser to listen to your favourite tunes. Until now it doesn’t have account or playlist support for the mobile version. Hope we will get an updated version with playlist creation option. Following are screenshots of home page, search page and the search results. Hope you will enjoy using seeqpod on you iPod touch/iPhone and PC (including macs).

Audio Video support for Audium

November 11th, 2007 | Category: Apple, Audium, IM

The best msn IM client on Mac just got better. Audium for me is the best MSN client available on Mac. It integrates quite well with the mac environment and its works well with leopard.

Unfortunately this setup looks to be a temporary one. Although it has support for AV it doesn’t integrate well with Audium and requires web browser and requires flash. You just need to install the plugin, you can get it here.Although not the best solution, it is a temporary one. They say they are working on a better integrated AV solution. We can just cross our finger.
